Our school was founded in 1924. First, it was situated in the building of Moravian Gallery.  In 1930, Bohuslav Fuks won a competition and a new building according to his plan was about to be built. Unfortunately, financial crisis came as well as the Second World War and the building was not built. The school moved to Husova 10 after the War.

The pre-war school offered nine departments,  for example decorative painting, glass, toy, furniture diesign, graphics, photography and some textile departments as well.

The school was very successful. Students took part in many exhibitions. The teachers also cooperated with Bauhaus.

The school was closed during the Second World War. Some students were taken to concentration camps, some had to go to work to Germany. One student, Otto Pešl was killed the very last day of the war.

There have taught many important personalities: Emanuel Hrbek, Bohdan Lacina, Josef Šálek, Pavel Dias, Vladimír Židlický

In 2012, our school and the textile school were united into one organisation – the Secondary School of Art and Design, Style and Fashion.

The school at Husova has 7 departments: painting, graphics, illustration, photography, furniture design, product design, exhibition arts
